Thank you for visiting our website.  My name is Michael Edwards and changing attitudes about the car business has been my mission since the beginning of my automotive career.

I started in the business over 30 years ago, detailing cars at my families Toyota Dealership in Portsmouth, NH. When I came on the scene as a young teenager, the dealership was already well established. The experience I would gain over the years was invaluable and spanned all of the dealerships departments including: Parts, Service, Sales, Finance, New and Used Car Management and General Management.

The privilege of working with my father and being partnered with a company like Toyota provided a great model to learn from. What I learned is that time and time again, satisfied customers returned because of the reputation of the product and the dealer who represented it.  When it came to delivering a quality product and customer care, people knew they could count on Toyota as a company and we as a dealer to stand behind it and when those two things exist, great things can happen.

When one door closes, another one opens

Years later, the day came when my father was ready to retire and I was presented with an opportunity to continue on as the “dealers son” or take a path of my own.  In 1997 I started MJE Automotive, LLC which would be modeled to incorporate the best of what I had learned working with my father and Toyota and create something unique.

My new business would focus on helping dealers find high quality used cars while working with them to market and sell their own inventory.  While this arm of the business is primarily focused on inventory needs, our consulting component also works with dealers to streamline processes and rethink marketing strategies.

The service was modeled to be a large scale sub contractor of sorts where dealers would engage services based on their needs be it short term or long term but always emphasized quality.

Proudly, many faithful clients from the Toyota years continued to knock on the door looking to buy, sell or trade their vehicles so I went to work to customize a process that would work for individuals.

With emphasis on improving the experience, I pushed to remove everything people hated about car shopping and simplify it.  I found that by turning from a sales-minded approach to one that was service oriented is what really began to change attitudes and got people talking.  Buying a vehicle is a process few people enjoy and bringing transparency to an otherwise clouded business is what people wanted.
